Rubbish Removal Kogarah

Kogarah is part of the Georges River Council area, where you get just two waste collections a year – and you may wait months for them to actually happen.

Each of those two free pickups is limited to three cubic metres. If you need to shift more than a mattress and a couch, that’s your allocation gone.

The council requires at least two weeks’ notice, and its own advice notes that waits can stretch to around eight weeks during peak periods. So if your lease ends at Christmas, you could be waiting until March to get old furniture collected.

The free collections are also allocated per property, not per person. If you live in a shared house, or an apartment building, those two collections are shared between everyone. For a suburb with as many apartment buildings as Kogarah, that’s a very thin allowance.

There are limits on what can be collected, too. Mattresses are capped at two per year and have to be declared when you book. Building and construction waste isn’t accepted at all, and neither is commercial waste – so if you’re in a commercial property around Kogarah, the service doesn’t cover you.
